Long Time No Blog

I have been ultra busy this past week. I have been doing my job and part of 2 co-workers who one is on vacation (dog) and one is out of town (skank). So, you can guess how these past few days have been.
Also my old boss, part of the reason I left Florida, has been out to prove me an idiot this week. (see me pulling my hair out!) 4 Times in the last 4 days... All 4 times he was wrong. now who is the idiot. Only thing, nothing will be said to him, never as, never will.
Tonight I did find time to ride my bike a bit in the neighborhood. Hoping to do so again Wednesday nite, but there is a good chance of rain now! Figures! I get a new toy and the weather goes haywire!
I also started my new template design last night. I am having a bit of a "brain freeze" on just quite the direction I want to go with it. Guess because of being so busy lately.
Ideas from anyone?

Click Me Like a Bic!

If you click on the pic of the grocery and pawn it will enlarge and you can read it. I have visions of someone pawning their VCR to buy a RC cola and a moon pie.

WOW! A grocery AND pawn! Posted by Hello

Yellow Shoes

I have the some of the coolest shoes and this particular pair are simple slides in a bright, lemony shade of yellow made of a fine weave of linen. They go with this really great light cotton sundress I have, that has hues of turquoise, green and yellow. I feel like a fresh spring day when I wear the dress and my yellow shoes. I feel so good I just KNOW I inspire others to have a great day. I also listen for peoples comments on my clothes, (if any). A "You look good today" Means much more than a "That is a nice dress". Statement A means your overall look is flattering, statement B means the dress looks good but not necessarily on you. Try it out if you don’t believe me! Anyway, I wander in my ramblings..
I like shoes, like any woman, but am not obsessed with them. I have about 20 pair, but being the bargain shopper that I am, I have paid very little for any of them. But back to my yellow shoes...
Yesterday I wore my dress of spring colors and the wonderful yellow shoes. I was having just a peach of a day feeling all clean, cool and collected. I took a trip to the "little girls room" as we all do daily. I just get in the stall, poised and ready to p.. well you know, when I hear someone come in and say, "Hello Marti, you know, you have more neat shoes.".
My eyes wide open (not shut, ha ha).
What do I say?
How do I feel about being recognized in the bathroom?
And all because of my yellow shoes!
Damn the yellow shoes!
Why does this bother me so?
I shook my head to clear my mind and replied, "Thanks, Walmart $6!" Promptly went back to my office and took my shoes off.
Yeah right like that will solve anything with my bright coral painted toenails...

Here is my contribution to politics

George and Laura Bush and Bill and Hilary Clinton are traveling by train to the Super Bowl. At the station, George and Laura each buy a ticket and watch as Bill and Hilary buy just one ticket.

"How are the two of you going to travel on only one ticket?" asks George W, astonished at what he is seeing.

"Watch and learn," answers Hilary.

They all board the train. George and Laura take their respective seats but Bill and Hilary cram into a toilet together and close the door.

Shortly after the train has departed, the conductor comes around collecting tickets. He knocks on the toilet door and says, "Ticket, please."

The door opens just a crack and a single arm emerges with a ticket in hand. The conductor takes it and moves on.

The Bushes see this happen and agree it was quite a clever idea, so after the game they decide to try a similar plan on the return trip.

When they get to the station they see the Clintons at the window buying a single ticket for the return trip. To their astonishment, the Clintons see that the Bushes don't buy any ticket at all.

"Aren't you taking a terrible chance by traveling without a ticket?" says Hilary.

"Watch and learn," answers Laura Bush.
When they board the train the Bushs cram themselves into a toilet and the Clintons cram into another toilet just down the way. Shortly after the train is on its way, George W. leaves their toilet and walks over to the toilet in which the Clintons are hiding. George W. knocks on their door and says, "Ticket, please."
And you're still trying to figure out how the Democrats lost that election

My new years resolution this year was to let everyone in my family know how much they mean to me. One by one I am letting them know. This one is for my sister Joan.

To my sister Joan (sounds like JoAnn),

I Love you.
We don't always agree on what we are both doing in our lives, but isn't that the way it is supposed to be? If we agreed on everything how boring would that be!
When I think of you I think of;
Playing Barbie's outside on Piedmont St. outside behind the bushes, underneath your bedroom window.
MY dawn doll (lol).
You sleeping with me when we where little and you where scared.
Laying on the floor our head resting in our hands, in front of my record player, listening to the Beatles, the Stones, The Hermits.
You locking yourself in the bathroom, and Jimbo lifting me up and in the bathroom window so I could unlock the door.
The look on your face that day as things transpired that I went to go live with my Dad.
The look on your face when we found each other again many years later, standing there in the door of the newspaper office. You where all grown up.
The excitement of catching up on what had happened in our lives the time we where apart.
Drum Major Joan!
Making our own recordings in Shreveport at the mall and everyone's face as they stopped to listen to you sing Anita Baker. I was so proud.
How strong you where when mom died at her funeral. We all thought it would be you that broke down not me. Wrong.
Chocolate Ice cream - because chocolate is soothing to my soul and who doesn't like ice cream!
You out in front of my Shreveport home packed up for your journey to Atlanta, your first really big move on your own. U-Haul packed, car in tow.

With out you these memories, (and ones we will have in the future) would not have been possible. I wouldn't trade them for the world. Although if I could turn back time, (insert Cher singing here), I would try to change the years we where apart. How? I am not sure as those events were really out of both of our hands.

Because I love you I have to add:

Always take care of yourself, mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually. If you don't, no one else will be able to assist you at these tasks.
Keep your spirits up. Things could be worse. We could live overseas.

I am Blue...
and for the most part I would say it is right...

What Color is Your Brain?

Here was my day yesterday...

Oh you mean when I get that little notice "updates are available" I am supposed to update?
Could be why the sasser clone got all over our computers yesterday. I have to admit though, I don't do it like I should either.. Besides the average beast is afraid to do something to a work computer anyway in fear they might "crash it". And this would be so bad?? So how did that get the word crash? Doesn't crash involve 2 or more objects, (and note that both don't have to be moving) slamming into each other and causing massive damage? I have yet to see a computer run into anything moving or not...even while drinking..
Today there are dead worms in the halls. Seriously...
I have been joking and telling everyone, "See, there's your worm! We got rid of them!"
Bring on the drinks! LOL
I have all these great ideas for posts, but this week has been unbelievably busy.
The weekend is going to be also. We are moving some of my stuff, packing some of my stuff and meeting the preacher who knows how long before I can be creative again. i have to say, I miss that. I really wanted to blog about Dead Presidents on Tour this week, but no time... and don't read to much into that, I liked Reagan. I just think it is weird, really weird, how he is being "flown and/or moved" to all these different locations... I kept expecting someone to come on the news and say his next appearance was sold out. I know I am weird.. but "what the hay" as we say in Texas...

I Got the Worm!

And it wasn't in Tequila!
Yesterday I was just a working along and thinking of what to blog about when
I got the sasser worm... again... new version....
So off I go to find our IT dude and it turns out the whole office got it...
SOOOOO guess what we did all day yesterday.
So if any of you are reading this and haven't updated your virus protection or updated your windows..

I am not an IT person, but I do know my way around, so I helped yesterday. We have a few left today...and I have to catch up on my work! Imagine!
more later as I am behind...
not telling you WHAT I am behind... LOL!!!

"Mom there are fairies in the yard!"

That was me who made that statement about 30 (ouch) years ago. Mom always liked a good tale and one spring evening we were out in the yard with some family and friends. Just as the first haze of night was coming over the yard, I saw a small light blink, then another, and another! I was mesmerized by the neon green blinking.
"Mom, what is that?"
"Why those are fairies."
"Awwww Mom, come on.."
She proceeded to tell me the story of how in the old days, people really thought the lightning bugs were fairies. In the low evening light, all you can really see is the light, a small body and the fluttering of wings. They believed if you caught them you would have good luck.
"Mom can I have a jar? I wanna catch some!"
So off she went to get an old mayo jar, and Jimbo poked holes in the lid for me. Off I went! I think I managed to collect about 5.
"Now what do I do with them, Mom?"
"Well if you keep them in the jar to long they will die."
I think this was my first real experience of having something that could die. I know I didn't even truely understand death, but I knew I didn't want the "fairies" to die.
I took them in my room for a bit, I turned the light out, then sat and watched them.
blink, blink
After a bit I took the jar outside and released the fairies.
Later that spring I saw my cousins David and Eddie and couldn't wait to share my new found knowledge with them. They being boys and older than me, thought it was a stupid story and proceeded to show me that evening how to make rings out of them by smashing them on your finger.. I was horrified..

The excitement of seeing lightning bugs is still there to this day. I walk 2 miles almost every night and the last week or so the fairies have been out doing their fairy business. I still hollar out, "Look at the fairies!"
I didn't even realize until now, that I didn't see them in Florida. Must be to humid and hot for them, maybe it frizzes their hair..

Cuteness of all Cuteness

you have to check out Lujza's blog and see her little girl's pic sleeping on the stairs! TOOO CUTE!!!
I was wrong...

It was $40 to have my truck inspected. $10 for window tint test and $30 for the inspection. Running total of expenses is now
$16 to get NC license
$209.50 First part of car tags
$40 for inspection

$265.50 and now we wait for Mr Property tax to send me THAT bill!!

Monday, June 07, 2004

My Purse feels lighter!

$209.50 later I have North Carolina tags. ($206.50 in check and $3.00 in cash for Ms Notary) The $209.50 equals up to the tag fee, title fee, highway usage fee.

But wait! If you order in the next 3 minutes you get to pay property tax also! Yes, that's right folks! Hurry now! I still get to pay property tax on my truck and that bill comes in about 3 weeks in the mail. YAY! (insert sarcasm here) But at least I got thi part done.

I have to say the tag lady was much more normal than the folks down at the DMV. I walked up to here with all my info, and she goes "Wow, you must have gotten online!" I told her I did, but actually a friend at the ofice called up to see what I needed to bring in. (My plates where expired and I was a little leary of what fees that might incur.) It only took about 10 minutes for tag lady to get my $209.50. That works out to about $20.95 per minute. Not bad for the state..And that will go up with the property tax bill. Ah State of NC!
OH! and today was tag ladies birthday, Happy Birthday Tag Lady! (hear the crowd cheer!) She got cake, and pizza, and cookies, and yellow roses from her man! You Go Girl!
So tonight I will break out the ol' tool box and put on my plate. I am so much closer to being official than any of the time I was in Florida.

Now I get to pay $10 more to get it NC inspected. I have 10 days to get that done. Any one want to guess what I am doing after work today? Huh? Do Ya?
I have to go now, something is surely wrong with me ... ha ha ha!

Today I plan to talk about some shit!

Why "shit" is the most functional cuss word in our modern lexicon:

Did you know that you can be shit faced, shit out of luck, or have shit for brains? You can get your shit together, find a place for your shit or decide to shit or get off the pot. (I personally have to much shit on my desk, but nowhere to put the shit.)

You can smoke shit, buy shit, sell shit, lose shit, find shit, forget shit, and tell others to eat shit and die. Some people know their shit, while others can't tell the difference between shit and shineola. There are lucky shits, dumb shits, crazy shits, and sweet shits. (I see a lot of dumb shits every day!)

There are lucky shits, dumb shits, crazy shits, and sweet shits. There is bull shit, horse shit and chicken shit. You can throw shit, sling shit, catch shit, shoot shit, or duck when shit hits the fan. (I work with a bunch of shit every day trying to turn that shit into shit that makes sense.)

You can give a shit or serve shit on a shingle [the proverbial "SOS"]. You can find yourself in deep shit, or be happier than a pig in shit. Some days are colder than shit, some days are hotter than shit, and some days are just plain shitty. Some music sounds like shit, things can look like shit, and there are times when you feel like shit. (Yesterday I got some shit on my computer, that is causing me some shit, and it keeps opening shit up for shit that I know shit about!)

You can have too much shit, not enough shit, the right shit, the wrong shit or a lot of weird shit. You can carry shit, have a mountain of shit, or find yourself up shit creek without a paddle. Sometimes everything you touch turns to shit, and other times you fall in a bucket of shit and come out smelling like a rose. (I myself have shitty luck!)

When you stop to consider all the facts, this word is one of the basic building blocks of creation. For if nothing else, once you know your shit, you don't need to know anything else!

Ain't that some shit!

Does Chocolate go bad?

Now that would be a shame!
I ask this question after a recent visit to M-mart #2. What is M-mart #2 you ask? Well that would be my right hand bottom desk drawer at work. I was just shopping there as I was getting a bit hungry for breakfast.

M-Mart has came in handy a number of times. I have made friends at M-Mart, especially hungry ones! The word gets out that if you are hungry and are looking for a snack go see M. So then I get visitors to M-mart which usually leads to some good conversation. After all, who is gonna bite the hand that feeds them? My boss visits at least once daily for his daily fix of Twizzlers. Hey if that is all it takes to keep him happy with me, NO PROB! I will stay stocked up on those for sure! I passed on the Fort Myers M-mart (#1) to S when I moved to Asheboro..S are you keeping that store well stocked? LOL.

M-mart #2 Asheboro today contains:
pkgd tuna, oatmeal, almonds, 2 paydays, equal, micro-popcorn, picnic style eating utensils, club crackers, Cheerios, peanut butter, carmex lip balm, Hot Tamales, dental floss, toothbrush and toothpaste, a sewing kit, personal products (ladies you know what I am talking about), after tanning lotion and the two staples of any Mart, Twizzlers and DARK Chocolate.

WHEW! You might think I am preparing for a disaster! Well at least I won't go hungry! Speaking of hungry, think I will go have some healthy, cholestoral lowering oatmeal!

Now if I could just figure out how to sell gas I could quit and work there full time!

I'm Getting Married in the Morning..

Ding dong! The bells are gonna chime! Pull out the stopper! Let's have a whopper! But get me to the church on time!

LOL OK I am not getting married in the morning, but soon. And for some reason I hear Eliza Doolitle's Dad (My Fair Lady) singing that song when I think about it! I choose to say little about my family or homelife for privacy reasons or that I might piss someone in my family off if I say someting they don't like, so I don't go there. (It doesn't take much to figure out who my sister is or my son via my links as they introduced me to the blogging world.) And let's face it... my life is boring as hell, I am an average Joette and who wants to read about that???
I choose to say this now as;
1) Very few people read my blog and I know most of them.
2) The upcoming events have had some interesting things happen that I want to blog about.
Never say never! I have been married one.. OK two times before. Once to my sons Dad and the last to a man I call "The Bastard". I have been single for the past 3 years, and things have been fine. I took up the stance I would NEVER get married again. Why should I? My son is grown, I have no one to be an "influence" for. Who needs that piece of paper? I just wanted to find someone that I wanted to grow old with, no civil ceremony required...HA! Again never say never! My company moved me to NC first of this year, I met him here. (More on that later) Long story short, he is a good, kind, funny, sexy man. Sooooo... Long story short, never say never!

AH the power of a few days off!

To bad it is over!

Interesting note #1: I have added a link on the left to "Who is this masked man?". Reportedly he is someone in Hollywood, both by his first blog and many reporters trying to figure out who he is. They have guessed Ben Affleck and Jim Carrey among others. His blog is interesting, and I am not sure I would want to know who it really is. I think it might take some mystery and allure away from his blog, and he might be lying, he may just be an average joe! Who knows, and do you really want to know?

Interesting Note #2: The police have even gone high tech. You can now make bids on all that "stuff" they have left in the property room. Although I am trying to figure out how someone left a lot in Cherokee Village, Arkansas, and where did some of the other stuff come from!

Saw 4 movies over the weekend, two via DVD and 2 at the movies.
First we saw "The Day After Tomorrow". The people portion of the plot was a little weak, but the effects where pretty darn good!
Second we watched "School of Rock" on DVD. Again I will say the acting was week, the humor sometimes lame, but you couldn't help but root for the kids!
Third we watched "Cheaper by the Dozen" on DVD. I have seen this before but it is still a funny cute show!
Fourth, we went to "Shrek 2". It was funny, the acting was good, (what does that say when cartoon characters are better than humans?), and it was FUNNY! A definite recommend! And if you haven't seen it yet be sure you stay seated thru the credits. There is a bit of an "update" on the donkey and the dragon!
How was your long weekend?
